Do I set that up in VDMX or QLC+? QLC+ identifies and is ready to receive VDMX MIDI, I just don't know how to make the connection.Basic idea of this video is combination of Google Street View sequence and stop motion animation of group_inou(cp and imai). >How do I map MIDI? I want to hit a keystroke in VDMX that triggers both VDMX-hosted video and the buttons I created in QLC+ for triggering QLC+ audio/lights. Second HUGE breakthrough is setting up QLC+ buttons to trigger audio playback along with DMX (QLC+) preprogrammed lights. That will let us optimize levels for the room. I bought a soundcard for my laptop that will get all six channels to unique PA slots.
I created a Quicktime video with SIX audio channels. I am building layered backup plans in case of a train-wreck. I think having it would help me focus on the music. LOL - I'm the one who forgets lyrics, and I'm the lead singer! LOL Although I'm comforted that many veterans like even Elton John have teleprompters. you get to concentrate on playing music and having a good performance. If you *gotta* have all those pieces separate, then save your brain and hire two competent people to run it all for you from FOH and then.

Is your MIDI going to some keyboard or tone-module to playback sounds? Put it as pre-rendered audio in the stereo mix on your movie playback.Ĭan easily be done with one button in either QLC or VDMX alone. force them to be pros - it's good for them.
I have seen 40 person church choirs turn into gibbering nabobs when their lyrics projector went down. It is now automatically synced perfectly :] Make it stereo, embed the audio in your audience movie playback. I would start combining things and paring down to the essentials -ĭo you *gotta* have 5.1 sound? Would the audience even know? Your distraction from performing your music and your trainwreck potential is very, very high. If that's the kind of thing you wanna do - here are a few thoughts.Īs a regular gigging musician, this to me sounds realllly tricky to pull off live. Hmmmm thats alot, and I am unsure of QLCs current video capabilities. But man is it a pain programming a light show from scratch in VDMX, making a bunch of sliders and individually setting their outputs to different channels.Īnyone out there with deep DMX knowledge? tryank Posts: 37 Joined: Fri 4:12 am Location: IDAHO
#Vdmx dmx lights software
I've only had a little exposure to Martin software like M-PC and dmx boards like the tiger touch, and maybe I'm biased but they don't seem as versatile as VDMX. It looks to me like VDMX is the best option so far if I want to control lights on the fly, kinda following the DJs lead and being flexible enough to match their musical spontaneous creativity with a fitting visual display. I'm just wondering what other options are out there for a mac user controlling dmx fixtures.
It'd be nice to create fixture presets and auto dmx addressing for example. I use VDMX for video mixing and DMX control, and while I love all I can do with DMX output using LFOs and step sequencers and presets and color wheels and TONS of control options and trigger methods, there's a few aspects of creating a video+light show in VDMX that are quite taxing.
